Whole-of-market broker site

Independent advice that reads like a person, not a portal.

The brief

My Mortgage Team

My Mortgage Team advise across the whole of the market, and every visitor arrives having just been somewhere that compares rates in a table. A comparison portal wins on a number. A broker wins on knowing which lender will say yes to a particular set of circumstances, which is a harder thing to put on a homepage and the only thing worth putting there.

Sell the adviser rather than the rate, and prove it before asking for a phone call. The site leads with what a whole-of-market panel actually buys you, gives a figure away for free through the calculator, and explains the vocabulary in guides that assume nothing. The regulated disclosures are written into the sentences rather than bolted underneath them.

What we made

A broker's product is judgment, not a rate.

The panel is the argument, so the panel is the first thing on the page: 80+ mainstream lenders, 30+ available only through an intermediary, 80+ specialist. That middle number is the one that matters and the one nobody leads with, because it is the part a visitor cannot get by going direct. It sits beside 35+ years of experience and a single telephone call, which is the whole proposition in three figures.

The calculator is the front door.

Somebody weighing up a move wants a number before they want a conversation, and will go and find one somewhere else if you make the conversation the price of entry. Two sliders, property value and deposit, return a monthly repayment and the loan to value the deposit implies. Only then does it offer an adviser, and by that point it has already been useful.

Regulated copy that still sounds like a person.

My Mortgage Team Ltd is an Appointed Representative of Stonebridge Mortgage Solutions Ltd, authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. That governs what the site is allowed to say and how: nothing may read as advice before advice has been given, and the status has to be stated where it can be seen. Written badly this turns a page into small print. Written into the copy, it reads as the reason to trust the firm rather than a disclaimer at the bottom.

Plain English as a service.

The vocabulary is the barrier. Loan to value, intermediary only, product transfer: a first-time buyer meets a dozen of these before anyone explains one. The guides and glossary exist so a visitor can arrive knowing nothing and leave able to ask a sensible question, which is a better first call for both sides.

You normally have to choose between fast and good. We have not had to. Work comes back in days, finished, and more than once better than the brief we sent.
