Brand identity & design
Identity that holds at any size, printed or lit.
What it is
Neon Frame Creative is a UK creative media studio building identity systems and the applied design around them: marks, type, print, signage and the templates that keep it all consistent after we leave.
A logo is the smallest part of an identity.
What decides whether a brand looks coherent is everything after the mark: the type scale, the colour rules, how a photograph is cropped, what a table looks like in a report. We design the system rather than the emblem, because the emblem is not what your audience sees ninety per cent of the time.
It has to survive being applied by other people.
Six months after handover the brand is being used by a sales team in PowerPoint and a print shop with a two-colour minimum. An identity that only works in the hands of its designers has failed. So the deliverable includes the templates, the awkward cases and the honest guidance on what to do when the rules cannot be followed.
Printed and lit are different problems.
A palette that sings on a screen can die on uncoated stock, and a mark that reads at 200mm on a hoarding may disappear at 20px in an app. Anything we make is tested at the sizes and in the media it will actually appear in, including the ones nobody mentioned in the brief, like signage and vehicle livery.

Where it leads
- In FrameProperty developersBuyers commit before the building exists. Everything they judge it on, you commission.
- In FrameLegal servicesYour next client checked the website before they called. Your next partner checked it before they applied.
- In FrameEducationFamilies decide in the first ninety seconds on your website. Everything after that is confirmation.
One of six disciplines. See all of them · most briefs need more than one, and planning them together is what stops anything being made twice.
Design: straight answers
Asked and answered
- What is included in a brand identity project?
- A mark, a type system, a colour system with usage rules, and the applications you actually need, usually documents, decks, print and signage. Guidelines come as part of it rather than as an upsell, because an identity nobody knows how to apply reverts within a year.
- Can you refresh an identity rather than replace it?
- Often that is the right call, particularly where there is real recognition to protect. A refresh keeps the equity, usually the mark and one colour, and rebuilds the parts doing the damage, which is normally the typography, the photography and the document templates.
- Do you design for print as well as digital?
- Both, and we treat them as different problems rather than one file exported twice. Print work is specified with the stock, finish and press in mind, and we will tell you when a design decision is going to be expensive to produce before you fall in love with it.
